Cancer Center at Wilcox

Wilcox Health is dedicated to reducing cancer rates through advances in early detection, prevention and education.

Our board-certified physicians evaluate and treat all types of cancer and blood disorders to allow patients access to excellent care on island, which helps maintain their support network of family and friends both during and after treatment. Research has found improved quality of life during cancer treatment can increase the likelihood of survival.

Wilcox is an accredited cancer program through the American College of Surgeons.

Navigation

Oncology care often is complex and requires multiple appointments with different specialists. Our dedicated oncology nurse navigator provides individualized education and access to resources to ensure that you and your loved ones are cared for and supported throughout your entire cancer treatment and recovery. This includes assisting patients and families with coordination of appointment scheduling, transportation needs, finding community resources and additional referrals to other services.

Depending on your individual needs, your navigators may offer some of the following services and resources:

  • Coordination of care alongside your physician and health care team.
  • Educational materials and resources regarding your diagnosis and treatment.
  • Information on and access to clinical trials, genetic counseling, dietary counseling and psychosocial support.
  • Referrals to support groups, homecare services or other supportive programs.
  • Referrals to American Cancer Society programs (i.e., Reach to Recovery, Look Good Feel Better and Road to Recovery).
  • Resources for transportation assistance and financial concerns.
  • Transition of care into our Survivorship Program.

The Infusion Center

The Infusion Center provides high-quality care in a stress-free, healing environment. It is located at the main entrance of the medical center with plenty of parking and easy access. With 10 infusion stations, the state-of-the-art center provides a relaxed, homelike setting with natural light and communal or private seating. Customized reclining chairs are equipped with massage and heating units that patients can control. Enclosed in each space is a personal television offering cable or educational and health programming. Healing Touch services from experienced volunteers also are available upon request while patients receive their infusion. The facility is equipped to offer outpatient infusion services that include but are not limited to:

Oncology/Hematology

  • Chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy.
  • Palliative care.

Other Services

  • IV Infusions of:
    • IV antibiotics.
    • Albumin.
    • Iron.
    • Remicaide.
    • Reclast.
    • IVIG.
    • IV Hydration.
  • Blood and platelet transfusions.
  • Phlebotomy.

The Wilcox Infusion Center is staffed with a team of highly trained professionals that includes oncologists and nurses with advanced certifications in oncology and palliative care support.

The center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. To schedule an appointment, please contact your primary care physician or oncologist.
