Straub Medical Center Earns Blue Distinction Center+ Designation for Cardiac and Bone & Joint Care

Straub Medical Center has been designated by HMSA as a Blue Distinction® Center+ for Cardiac Care and Knee and Hip Replacement Surgeries, both of which are part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Blue Distinction Centers are nationally designated health care facilities shown to deliver improved patient safety and better health outcomes, based on objective measures developed with input from the medical community.

Straub Joins Forces with More Than 500 Organizations to Increase Colorectal Cancer Screening Rates Nationwide

Straub Medical Center recently made the pledge to help increase colorectal cancer screening rates by supporting the “80% by 2018” initiative led by the American Cancer Society, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable (an organization co-founded by ACS and CDC). More than 500 organizations have committed to substantially reducing colorectal cancer as a major public health problem, and are working toward the shared goal of 80 percent of adults ages 50 and older being regularly screened for colorectal cancer by 2018.

Hawaii Pacific Health was recently named a recipient of the HIMSS Enterprise Davies Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in health information technology. Oahu IHOP restaurants will celebrate National Pancake Day on Tuesday, March 7, by offering each guest a free short stack of its famous buttermilk pancakes. Hawaii Pacific Health celebrates women in the community with the 40th Annual Hawaii Pacific Health Women’s 10K, to be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 7 a.m. at Kapiolani Park. Wilcox and HMSA Donate $75,000 Toward Simulation Manikin for Kauai Community College

Wilcox Medical Center joined with HMSA to donate $75,000 toward a new 3G simulation manikin for the Kauai Community College Nursing Program. The new manikin will help nursing students on Kauai begin their education by offering practical training in realistic situations.

Kidz for a Cause Raises $300,540 for Kapiolani's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

More than 200 kids ages 6 to 17 joined Kidz for a Cause for its ThinkTank 2016 FUNraising campaign and raised $300,540 for Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Hawaii-based organization is run by kids and combines positivity, talent, and energy to spearhead unique fundraisers benefiting keiki in our community.
