Excited about the big day? Not sure what to expect? This three-part class series is designed for expectant parents in their final trimester of pregnancy. Over the course of three weeks, this class will cover:
- Female anatomy.
- Warning signs.
- Pre-labor and labor signs.
- Phases of labor.
- Timing contractions.
- Comfort measures.
- Breathing techniques for labor.
- Pain management options.
- Birthing options.
- Cesarean deliveries.
- Your partner's role.
- Postpartum care.
- Newborn appearance and procedures.
It is recommended participants wear comfortable pants/shorts and flat shoes/slippers for floor exercises. Please bring the following items to class:
- Two standard "bedroom" pillows.
- Two pencils or pens.
- Something to put on the floor, like a beach towel, exercise mat or small blanket.
- A small, portable item such as a stuffed animal, postcard, etc. This item will be your focal point during breathing exercises.
- Water and snack/meal for break time.
Each class is taught by an experienced childbirth educator who tailors each class to those in attendance. Classes are designed to answer common questions parents have while providing real-time instruction to guide participants through practical skills.
Registration includes one book per couple, per class series.
In-Person Classes
Our classes are held at either Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children or Pali Momi Medical Center. Please note the location on the class registration below.
Classes are designed for adult participants. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate children in class at this time. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
Virtual Classes
Curbside pickup of materials will be scheduled prior to the start of class. Pickup is located at the Bingham Street patient drop-off area. Instructions for literature pickup and login will be provided to you through our Contact Center.
Our Virtual Prepared Childbirth class will be held through a video conference call. While mobile devices are capable, please keep in mind that attending our class on a desktop computer or laptop will allow you to enjoy the best experience.
