Quality of Care at Kapiolani
Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children is well-recognized as Hawaii’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. It is Hawaii’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is also a tertiary care, medical teaching and research facility for more than 100 years.
Specialty services for patients throughout Hawaii and the Pacific region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric care, critical care air transport, maternal fetal medicine and high-risk perinatal care.

- Completed in 2016, the Diamond Head Tower offers 200,000 square feet of state-of-the-art technology and spacious rooms that allow for family-centered care.
- Kapiolani’s Child Life Services encompasses three areas:
- Child Life Specialists, who manage the play therapy program and the Playroom, a dedicated space where pediatric patients can play in a safe haven and forget about being hospitalized.
- Education Liaison Tutoring Program, which connects patients to school and helps them keep up with their assignments.
- Integrated Services, which offers natural and holistic therapies such as aromatherapy and infant massage.
- The team at Kapiolani has assisted in training many of Hawaii’s pediatric, obstetric and gynecologic doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.
