Breast Pump Education 101

Mom breastfeeding baby with manual pump and bottle with breast milk nearby.

New moms already have enough on their plates; they shouldn’t have to spend hours searching different websites and books to get a full understanding on the process of breast pumping and how to use their breast pump.

This class can make the journey to breast pumping easier.

Taught by our experienced team of registered nurses and childbirth educators, this two-hour class is held monthly at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children.

This class can be taken pre- or post-pregnancy and is open to anyone with questions or concerns about:

  • Various pump options (manual, electric, wearables, passive collection) and accessories available
  • What the different pump parts are and how to use them
  • How to get a pump
  • When to pump
  • Storing breast milk
  • Pumping and returning to work

Attendees are encouraged to bring their new breast pumps to class and familiarize themselves with the instruction manual and parts with the instructor.

Classes are designed for adult participants. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate children in class at this time. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
